Civic Center Plays Host to Grand Lodge Annual Sessions

RAPID CITY, SD (August 17, 2016) --- The Rushmore Plaza Civic Center is pleased to be hosting  the 2016 Sovereign Grand Lodge Annual Sessions. The Sovereign Grand Lodge, International Association of Rebekah Assemblies, General Military Council, and  International Association of Ladies Auxiliary Patriarchs Militant and Youth are all joining together in Rapid City for this annual conference. The group uses this time to plan the rules and regulations for the year and provides time for fellowship.

Each year, the Grand Lodge Sessions are held in a different city across the US. The conference is taking place this year in Rapid City on August 15th-19th at the Civic Center. 680 participants from all over the United States and Canada, as well as some from The United Kingdom, Iceland and Norway are in town for the meeting. The event wraps up mid-morning Friday.

“We are pleased that our venue and the City of Rapid City were chosen for the Sovereign Grand Lodge’s annual event. Since the Sturgis Rally is over and the tourist season is winding down, the conference is scheduled at a great time of year for the conference participants to be in the Black Hills.  The Rapid City CVB and Civic Center staff worked hard to bring the conference here,” says Craig Baltzer, Executive Director of the Civic Center. The participants are looking forward to visiting Mount Rushmore for the lighting ceremony while they are in town.
