The Monument is committed to hosting premier events of all types while ensuring the safety and well-being of all guests. The following guide provides important facility information and policies/rules for attending any event at The Monument

All guests shall remain respectful and courteous to their fellow patrons and to comply with requests from The Monument staff regarding the policies, emergency response procedures and behavior which impacts the event experience of fellow spectators. The Monument values the support of all guests and reserves the right to eject any guest for any reason, including not treating other guests attending the event with dignity and respect.

ACCESSIBILITY

We are pleased to offer certain ADA and Wheelchair accessibilities to include parking spaces, seating areas, and restroom facilities. We do keep several wheelchairs available in the facility for those who might need to borrow one for their comfort in attending events. If you have a need, please stop into the Guest Services Office for assistance.

ACCESSIBLE SEATING

To secure a wheelchair or accessible seats to events, please contact The Monument by phone at 1-800-468-6463 or 605-394-4111. You may also visit the Bluepeak Ticket Offices at The Monument or purchase online. Identified accessible seats are available in the Summit Arena, Ice Arena, Fine Arts Theatre, and the Barnett Fieldhouse.

ACCOUNT

Registered account holders of themonument.live have the ability to modify their account information as needed. Login by clicking on the My Account button located at the top right corner of the website. A login dialog box will appear where you can sign in using your email address (or account number) and password. Once signed in, you will be taken to the My Account page where your account information will be displayed with options to edit different sections of your account. Select the appropriate section you wish to edit by clicking the Edit button, make your changes and click the Save button.

AIRPORT

The Monument is easily accessible from Rapid City Regional Airport, approximately a 15-minute drive from our location. The address to the Airport is 4550 Terminal Road, Rapid City, South Dakota 57703

ALCOHOL SERVING AND CONSUMPTION

The Monument Board of Directors adopted an alcohol policy that is designed to protect guests and the community from alcohol-related incidents. We may ask all guests to provide a legal and valid photo ID regardless of age. Guests are required to obey all state and local laws governing the purchase, possession, and consumption of alcohol. It is illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to consume alcoholic beverages. The Monument reserves the right to remove anyone under the age of 21 who is found to be in the possession of or consuming alcohol on the premises. The Monument also reserves the right to refuse service to anyone and may have you removed from the premises if necessary.

ANIMALS

Guest animals and pets of any kind are strictly prohibited from The Monument, with the exception of trained service animals, defined as dogs or miniature horses. Service animals are welcomed in the facility but must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered unless these devices interfere with the service animal’s work or the individual’s disability prevents using these devices. In that case, the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective control. Comfort animals are not classified as service dogs.

Animals are only allowed if they are a part of the event that is held in the facility. In those instances, notices will be posted at the entrances for health reasons.

ATMS

For guest convenience, there are ATMs located throughout the facility including the main concourses, Ice Arena, Barnett Fieldhouse, and Summit Arena.

AUTOGRAPHS

The Monument does not accept autograph requests.

BABY CHANGING TABLES

Baby changing tables can be found in restrooms facility-wide.

BAGS/ BACKPACKS

All bags are subject to inspection and search before entering certain events within the facility as determined by the event promoter. The Monument reserves the right to define and limit the bag size based upon the requests of the promoter(s).

BACKSTAGE

Guests who are attempting to access the backstage area may only do so with verified credentials. Guests who are found in these locations without proper credentials are subject to ejection and/or arrest.

BALL/ PUCK IN PLAY POLICY

In order to create a safe and enjoyable environment for all guests, The Monument requires all guests to refrain from accessing their seats until the ball/puck is no longer in play.

BLUEPEAK TICKET OFFICES

Tickets for The Monument events are available at various ticket window locations within the facility. You will find ticket windows at the Don Barnett Fieldhouse, the Fine Arts Theatre, the Ice Arena and the Summit Arena. You may also purchase tickets online at themonument.live or by calling 1-800-468-6463. We do have a ticket outlet located on Base at Ellsworth Airforce Base Recreation Department.

Hours vary. For concerts, the Box Office generally closes 15 minutes after the main act takes the stage. For hockey, the Bluepeak Ticket Office closes at the drop of the puck in the third period. After these times, all leftover Will Call will be left with the Administrative Office.

CAMERAS/ PHOTOGRAPHY

All guests are expected to observe camera use guidelines, which may vary at the request of the artist/performer/team.

CANCELLATIONS

In the event of a concert or event cancellation, The Monument will follow the instructions of the promoter or artist.

CATERING

The Monument offers an on-site full servicing catering under Peak Hospitality, which are fit to service a variety of events. Peak Hospitality catering staff hosts a wealth of knowledge on how to deliver five-star rated cuisine for any occasion.

  • Outside catering is prohibited.

CHILD ADMISSION

Please note that each show will have different age and charged admission policy. Please see the specific event page for ticketing information.

CLUB SEATING - ICE ARENA

Offering first-class amenities and priority services, Club Seats in the Ice Arena offers a premium experience for all the action. The seat is a large cushioned seat and includes an in-seat cup holder. Club Seating also has a full-service bar and a concession stand that includes exclusive items along with your favorite concession items.

CODE OF CONDUCT

The Monument is committed to creating a safe and enjoyable guest experience at every event. We will do our best to help assist:

  • Guests will be treated with respect and courtesy by all The Monument staff.
  • Guests will consume alcoholic beverages in a responsible manner. Failure to do so will result in removal from the facility.
  • Guests will sit in their ticketed seats and have tickets ready to show upon request.
  • Guests will not smoke inside the venue, this includes e-cigarettes, smoking is restricted to designated outdoor areas.
  • Guests will comply with requests from staff regarding operations and emergency procedures.
  • The Monument staff will intervene when it is deemed necessary in order to ensure guests who are not observing the Code of Conduct do not interfere with other guests’ experience. Guests who violate the Code of Conduct may be subject to removal without refund and may be subject to arrest.

The Monument offers a wide variety of food and beverages for the enjoyment of our guests.

CONVENTIONS

With over 500,000 square feet of space and numerous rooms of different sizes, guests will find an ideal meeting facility. Staff can also provide special services, including full-service catering. Convention space including the 41,000 square foot Rushmore Hall, 16,000 square foot LaCroix Hall, and numerous other meeting rooms that can accommodate 10 to 1500 guests.

The Monument Box Office, concession stands and bars accept Visa, Mastercard & Discover.

DEFIBRILLATORS

In case of an emergency, Defibrillators are located throughout the complex.

  • West Concourse outside of the Administrative Office
  • Upper East Concourse outside the Ponderosa Room
  • Rushmore Hall near the bathrooms on the North end of the hall
  • Barnett Fieldhouse in the Southeast corner next to the Maintenance Employee door
  • Ice Arena in the Northeast corner near the elevator
  • Summit Arena on the Event Level near the Sensory Room and Training room, on the Concourse Level near the Southeast Elevators and the box office on the Northwest corner, in the Theatre Box near the Bar, and in the Loft near the Northwest stairwell.

DIRECTIONS

  • FROM I-90
    • From I-90 (heading East or West) take Exit 57, the I-190 Byway heading South and take Exit 1C and proceed to take a left on North Street. At the 4 Way Stop at Mt. Rushmore Road N. (to park on the West Side of the Building), take a right, The Monument will be on the left hand side. If you want to park on the East side of The Monument continue straight at the 4-Way Stop and take a right on to 5th Street, proceed South and The Monument will be on the right.
  • FROM HWY. 79
    • Follow Hwy. 79 to Omaha Street. Turn left onto Omaha Street and stay on Omaha until Mt. Rushmore Road. Turn right onto Mt. Rushmore Road N. and in approximately one block the facility will be on your right.
  • FROM HWY. 44
    • Heading West: Hwy. 44 will turn into Omaha Street after you cross Cambell Street. Stay on Omaha until you get to Mt. Rushmore Road N. Turn right onto Mt. Rushmore Road N. and in approximately one block The Monument will be on your right.
    • Heading East: Hwy. 44 will turn into Jackson Blvd. continue to W. Main St. and turn right. Continue on W. Main St. until you get to Mt. Rushmore Road turn left and continue through Omaha Street and in approximately one block The Monument will be on your right.

DON BARNETT FIELDHOUSE

With 34,500 square feet of uninterrupted floor space, the Barnett Fieldhouse is a facility that can comfortably seat 2,000 and is an ideal location for sporting events, tradeshows and conventions.

DOOR OPENING

Door opening times for events at The Monument will vary according to each event.

DRESS CODE

All guests of The Monument are required to wear a shirt, pants and shoes at all times for their own safety. The Monument management reserves the right to deny entry to guests wearing attire that displays offensive text or imagery.

EAFB TICKET OUTLET

The Monument tickets can be purchased at Outdoor Recreation at EAFB. All of our ticket outlets – the ticket windows, phone orders, internet orders, and the offsite outlets use exactly the same seating map for seat selection.

ELEVATORS

In the main concourse areas of the complex, there are elevators in the West Concourse and the East Concourse that can take guests to the second level. Summit Arena has four elevators, two in the Southeast Lobby and one on both the East and West sides of the North concourse. In the Ice Arena, one is located in the Northwest corner. In the Fine Arts Theatre, one is located in the main lobby.

EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS

Any guest that opens an account with The Monument and includes their email address is automatically placed on our mailing list to receive ticket alerts and announcements of upcoming shows. If you are not receiving our correspondence you have two options. You can sign up under Insiders Club, or email us your name, complete postal mailing address, and email address, and we will be glad to include you on the list for future notices. EMERGENCIES

The Monument works with the Rapid City Fire Department, the Rapid City Police Department, and other agencies to develop Emergency Procedure Plans for all events. Trained security staff work to ensure the safety of all guests, performers, and employees. In the case of an emergency, guests must comply with requests from facility staff regarding operations and emergency response procedures. Evacuation routes are posted throughout the facility.

EMPLOYMENT

For those seeking employment with The Monument, click on Careers on our website themonument.live and follow the instructions. Our staff is employed by the City of Rapid City, so you will be redirected to the City of Rapid City website to complete an application. As City employees, you will be required to pass both a criminal and credit background check, along with drug screening.

ENTRY INSPECTIONS

All guests entering arena events are subject to visual, wand inspection, walk-thru metal detection, and bag inspection conducted by The Monument staff. Entry to an event may be denied in the event guests refuse screening and/or bring prohibited items

ESCALATORS

There are three escalators located at The Monument. There is one located in the South Concourse of the facility and carries guests to the Upper East Concourse and there are two located in Summit Arena on each side of the grand staircase located on the South end of the arena.

EXCHANGING TICKETS

During an on-sale, many people in The Monument ticketing system are either purchasing or viewing tickets at the same time. When customers are looking for tickets, the system reserves those seats for an allocated amount of time. If they decide they do not want the tickets or if they time out, those tickets will be released back into the system for others to purchase. Once tickets are confirmed and payment has been processed, there are no exchanges or refunds on tickets. Please ensure that the tickets ordered are to your satisfaction prior to the final purchase.

FAMILY RESTROOMS

Family Restrooms are located in the Ice Arena, Fine Arts Theatre and Summit Arena.

FINE ARTS THEATRE

The Fine Arts Theatre comfortably accommodates everything from touring Broadway productions to local dance school recitals. Each of the 1700 seats enjoys a clear and close-up view of the stage, and the acoustics are second to none.

FIRST AID

In the event of an emergency please dial 911. If First Aid attention is needed, ask an employee of The Monument for assistance or go to the Guest Services Office. Please note, there are no on-site medical staff unless a show has hired them.

FLYERS/ HANDOUTS

The distribution of promotional products, flyers, or printed materials is prohibited both inside and in the parking lots unless written permission from The Monument is obtained.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE

Guests may not bring outside food and/or beverage items into The Monument. Glass bottles and metal cans are strictly prohibited. Guests are asked to dispose of unauthorized items prior to entry into the facility.

GENERAL ADMISSION

General Admission refers to seating or standing areas that are occupied on a first-come, first-served basis, and do not have assigned or reserved seating.

GIFT CERTIFICATES/GIFT CARDS

Gift cards are available in amounts of $25, $50, $100 & $150 increments at our Box Office, by phone, and from our website, and can be used anywhere within the facility such as at concessions stands, bars, and the box office to purchase tickets.

GUEST SERVICES

Guests seeking information regarding questions, concerns, or issues at The Monument can go to the Guest Services Desk outside of the Fine Arts Theatre and speak with a Building Greeter or to our Administration Office located on the lower level of the West Concourse, near the Fine Arts Theatre entrance.

HOTELS

There are multiple hotels located near The Monument. The closest hotels include Holiday Inn Rapid City Rushmore Plaza, Howard Johnson by Wyndham Downtown Rapid City, The Rushmore Hotel & Suites and the Alex Johnson Hotel. For more hotels check out Visit Rapid City's Hotel & Lodging

HOUSEKEEPING

Guests should contact the nearest team member of The Monument if there is a spill or housekeeping concern during an event.

ICE ARENA

The Monument Ice Arena has a temporary ice floor for activities such as ice skating shows and professional hockey, but can be adapted during ice season with temporary flooring to also allow use for concerts, trade shows and conventions. The Ice Arena provides 28,000 square feet of event space, 5,136 seats for hockey and up to 7,400 seats for a concert.

INTERNET

Free Internet/Wi-Fi access is available to guests of The Monument through the TheMonument_Guest network. Users will be asked to submit their information for 24-hour access. For guests that need higher broadband speeds, special services can be provided at rates determined by your event needs.

LINK YOUR ACCOUNT

If you have both an existing Box Office account, which would have been created by ordering tickets over the phone or at the Box Office, and an online account, you can link these accounts to join them together as one account.

Click on the “Link Your Account” button under My Account, and you will be prompted to enter your online account number and PIN. You can obtain your PIN and account number by calling our Box Office.

LOST CHILDREN/ GUESTS

Parents looking for a lost child should alert the nearest Usher or Security Officer of The Monument. For safety reasons, The Monument is unable to make announcements for lost guests.

LOST/ STOLEN PROPERTY

All lost and found items are taken to the Administrative Office, located on the lower level across from the Fine Arts Theatre entrance. The Monument management assumes no responsibility for lost or stolen items within the facility.

MEET & GREETS

The Monument does not accept meet and greet requests. Please contact the team or artist through their website if you wish to obtain access to a meet and greet.

METAL DETECTORS

All guests entering arena events are subject to a security inspection before entering certain events within the facility as determined by the event promoter. These inspections may include the use of walk-through metal detectors and/or handheld wands or a combination of both. Guests will be asked to empty their pockets of all items and may be asked to remove their belts.

MOBILE TICKETING

When ordering your tickets online, a Mobile Ticketing option is available via your email or if you have an iPhone, dropped directly into your passbook. This enables customers an ideal “on-the-go” ticket buying experience with no paper. Customers will just have to pull up their bar code to be scanned at the entrance to the performance.

NO RE-ENTRY

For certain events, The Monument has a strict no re-entry policy. Once a guest has passed through the entrance, they will not be allowed to re-enter the facility. For these types of events, signs will be posted so patrons know of this policy.

NURSING

For guests attending conventions and meetings at the venue requesting a private area for nursing and/or pumping may contact the Administrative Offices. We do have sensory rooms available on a first-come first-serve basis.

ON-SALE

The individual performers/shows/events set the timing of all announcements, price of tickets, on-sale dates, etc. For some, tickets go on sale several months in advance, and others choose to wait until closer to the event date. 

PARKING

The Monument provides over 4,000 parking spaces in several lots adjacent to the facility. An ample amount of handicap parking is also available.

PASSWORDS

If you are a returning online customer and cannot remember your password, it can be reclaimed. Where you normally enter your email or account number and password, there is an option for you to click on “Forgot Password?” This will lead you to a prompt to enter your email address. Your password will be emailed to this address. If selecting the “Forgot Password?” link does not work, you may contact our Box Office for further information. Due to different ISP providers and the set-up of their mail servers time delays can occur.

PAYMENT METHODS

If purchasing online or by phone, we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express. If purchasing in person at The Monument Box Office, we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express or Cash.

PETITIONS

Petitioning is not permitted in the facility at any time. Petitioners are restricted to designated outdoor areas only.

PERSONAL SEAT LICENSE (PSL)

A Personal Seat License (PSL) is a license for designated seating in our premium areas. A PSL owner has the right to purchase event tickets for seats before they go on sale to the general public. For more information visist our Premium Seat Page on our website.

PRE-SALES

Pre-sales give customers the chance to purchase tickets before an on-sale but are not available for all events. If an event does offer an online pre-sale, the code will be provided to our insider group, per promoter. To ensure you receive notification of pre-sales, sign up for our insider club.

PREMIUM SEATING

The Monument offers a variety of premium seating options that vary by venue. Please refer to our Premium Seating section of the website for more information.

PRINT AT HOME TICKETS

There is no longer a Print at Home Option for Tickets.

CLUB LIV SUMMIT ARENA

PROHIBITED ITEMS

The following is a non-inclusive list of items that are prohibited at all events at The Monument. Possession of such items will result in a security escort off the premises.

  • Weapons, pepper spray, mace, fireworks
  • Alcohol, cans, bottles, flasks, coolers, drugs, illegal substances
  • Pamphlets, product samples not in vendor booths
  • Skateboards, rollerblades, bicycles, beach balls
  • Recording devices: audio or video
  • Cameras: no flash/professional photography, tripods, monopods, or selfie-sticks
  • Airhorns

PUCKS

Pucks that go into the seating area during hockey games may be kept by the guest who catches it. While protective netting is in place at each end of the rink, pucks may still enter the seating area and cause serious injury and/or death. We advise all guests to stay alert at all times while the puck is in play.

RE-ENTRY

To re-enter a ticketed event that is not classified as No Re-Entry, The Monument requires you to have your purchased ticket and also you must have a hand stamp.

RECORDING DEVICES

Guests may not bring audio or video recording devices into the facility. These include but are not limited to video cameras and audio recording devices. Any equipment in violation will be removed from the premises.

RECYCLING

You will find recycling containers for aluminum cans and plastic bottles throughout the facility. Please help us control the amount of waste, by recycling!

REFUNDS

Our policy is that we do not issue refunds or exchanges on tickets. If the concert is cancelled or rescheduled, we will follow the instructions of the promoter or artist.

SEATING

SECURITY

The Monument has security personnel, building greeters, and event staff to handle any issue that arises. These employees are dressed in designated shirts, jackets or vests.

SECURITY SCREENING

SMOKING

SUITE RENTALS - ICE ARENA

It is one thing to be present at an event, but quite another to experience them from the comfort of your own suite. The Monument provides the ultimate experience in each of our 13 Ice Arena Suites. Sizes can accommodate from 8 people up to 30 people and offer a wide range of benefits including valet parking, a private entrance, a private suite corridor, private restrooms on the suite level, a special dining menu, access to our club, and company-branded logos. SUMMIT ARENA

Completed in the fall of 2021, the 250,000 square feet, Summit Arena is home to Rodeo Rapid City, Black Hills Powwow, Lakota Nation Invitational and countless other sports and entertainment events. Other features of this multi-purpose venue include the flexibility to host end stage and center stage concerts, family shows, circuses, and large-scale basketball and wrestling tournaments.

TICKET LIMIT

Ticket limits are set by event promoters. Enforcing a ticket limit ensures fairness to all those purchasing tickets. The ticket limit applies per account, billing address, and credit card. Please observe the ticket limit as over purchases may be cancelled without notice or warning.

TICKET PURCHASING

Ticket purchasing is available a variety of ways, as follows:

  • Bluepeak Ticket Offices at The Monument: Open Monday-Friday 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM and event days.
  • Charge-by-phone: 1-800-468-6463 or 605-394-4111. Monday- Friday 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Ticket Outlet: Outdoor Recreation at Ellsworth Air Force Base

Tickets are generally mailed within 7 – 10 days. If it has been more than 3 weeks since you ordered your tickets, contact The Monument Box Office and a ticket seller will be happy to assist you. At times, due to large volumes of tickets and/or holidays, delays do occur.

TIMED-OUT

During an on-sale there are many thousands of people trying to purchase tickets at the same time. We do our best to accommodate everyone. Please keep trying to call or try the Internet.

THIRD PARTY RESALE TICKETS

Bluepeak Ticket Offices at The Monument, their ticket outlet at Ellsworth Air Force Base Outdoor Recreation and themonument.live are the only authorized ticket sellers for The Monument. Tickets obtained through third-party resale websites and through the newspaper are not guaranteed.

TOURS

The Monument is home to a sports team and hosts a variety of concerts, trade shows, and special events year-round. If you are interested in a tour of our facility, please contact the Guest Services Office at 605-394-4115 and ask for one of our event coordinators.

WHEELCHAIRS

The Monument keeps several wheelchairs available free of charge in the facility for those who might need to borrow one for their comfort while attending one of our events. The chairs are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please see our Guest Services Office if interested in accessing a wheelchair.

WILL CALL

Tickets can be purchased with the option of picking them up at the Will Call window. A driver’s license will be required at the time of pick up to verify the purchaser’s name.  There are additional charges associated with Will Call Tickets.
