FULL-TIME PRODUCTION TECHNICIAN

The Monument's Production Technician is responsible for providing facility technical and production sound, video, computer graphics, and lighting work utilizing The Monument systems for shows and events, including the programming, operation, and maintenance of all communications systems, sound lighting, video production, and visual effects. Hours and shifts will vary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:   

  • Maintains, repairs, and inventories all stage lights, spotlights, video, and sound equipment both analog and digital, including microphones, speakers, amplifiers, and others. 
  • Sets up and operates house sound systems, LCD projectors, and all sports. 
  • Acts as house technician on large events, such as conventions, trade shows, and sporting events.   
  • Provides in house technical production lighting, video, and sound assistance to renters.
  • Upgrades and improves sound, video, and light systems.  
  • Trains stage crews. 
  • Cleans and maintains stage area and control rooms. 
  • Performs stage work, sound, video, and lighting operations pertaining to lessees using the facility. 
  • Produces, maintains, and monitors the audio/visual coverage for events utilizing various electronic communications systems, including tickers, replay screens, scoreboards, marquees, and related equipment. 
  • Identifies and solves technical programs related to the presentation of events held at the facility. 
  • Completes necessary reports. 
  • Performs applicable duties of The Monument Stage Manager in the Manager’s absence.

ABOUT YOU

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two year college or technical school in technical theater, stagecraft, product, or related field.
  • Four years of related experience and/or training experience in the technical operations of a public assembly facility such as a The Monument, arena, or concert facility, including the repair, maintenance, and installation of stage lighting, sound, video production, and rigging.  
  • Must possess a valid driver's license or ability to obtain one within 30 days from the date of hire.  


 

PART-TIME STAGEHANDS

Individuals will assist in light, sound, and stage set up for concerts, dance shows, theatre shows, lectures and other events as needed. The number of hours and distribution of hours varies depending on the production schedule. Prior production or theatre experience is a plus, but not required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned:

  1. May unload and reload trucks, including pushing and pulling gear up and down ramps.
  2. May assist in setting up lighting, audio, staging and/or visual media systems.
  3. May assist in sewing and/or altering wardrobes.
  4. May assist in various aspects of the set-up and tear down of events or shows.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Age Requirement: Must be age 18 or older

Physical Demands:  Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.  Will perform manual labor to include lifting, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds, including lifting overhead.  Must be able to pull using cables and ropes.  May be required to balance, kneel, stoop and bend.  

Work Environment:  Will work primarily indoors and the noise level is usually moderate to loud.  Will be exposed to electronics, sewing supplies, large groups, heights and moving vehicles. May be exposed to cleaning or other chemicals.

PART-TIME RIGGERS

The Monument Rigger provides clients with technical and production support assisting with all aspects of entertainment rigging related to a production while maintaining the integrity of the artistic concept and adhering to Best Practice Safety Standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
 Essential duties and responsibilities include the following, other duties may be assigned:
 
Rigger I:

  1. With supervision, actively participates in the set up and tear down of all rigging systems and other applicable gear for concerts, touring shows, lectures/seminars, banquets, conferences, expos, meetings, receptions, weddings, etc.
  2. Responsible for compliance with the safety and security procedures and for continually seeking to improve efficiency and safety within the rigging department and overall production.
  3. Work with others in the completion of assigned tasks to achieve effective time and resource utilization.
  4. Provide in-house technical production assistance to renters.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   1. Understand safety aspects of hanging loads.
  2. Knowledge of basic rigging hardware terms and processes.
  3. Ability to tie knots: Bowline, clove hitch, half hitch, figure 8.
  4. Understand proper use of all arrest systems.
  5. Ability to understand emergency response guidelines.

Preferred qualifications: Entertainment production related certifications or training will be given preferred consideration. These include: ETCP Electrician, ETCP Arena Rigger, ETCP Theatre Rigger, SPRAT, Lodestar, Columbus-McKinnon.
OSHA 10 & 30 hour general industry or construction certificates
