The nation’s top bull riders converge on Rapid City, S.D., Jan. 27-28

RAPID CITY, S.D. (January 25, 2017) – The PRCA Xtreme Bulls Tour at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center has always signaled that a new rodeo season is underway.

This year is no different, as the Tour returns to Rapid City Jan. 27-28 for a pair of one-night shows to help kick off the 40th anniversary of Rodeo Rapid City. Thirty-five of the world’s top bull riders will compete each night for a purse of more than $10,000.

The headliners scheduled to compete include seven bull riding qualifiers from the 2016 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo presented by Polaris RANGER. Those men will take on some of the toughest and strongest bulls the PRCA stock contractors have to offer, many of which were selected to buck at this past December’s Wrangler NFR.

Joining the 2016 Rapid City Xtreme Bulls event champions – Trevor Kastner of Ardmore, Okla., and Dalan Duncan of Ballard, Utah – are 2016 Wrangler NFR qualifiers Joe Frost, Randlett, Utah; Garrett Smith, Rexburg, Idaho; Jordan Spears, Redding, Calif.; Brennon Eldred, Sulphur, Okla.; Roscoe Jarboe, New Plymouth, Idaho; Scottie Knapp, Albuquerque, N.M., and Rorey Maier, Timber Lake, S.D.

The events are more than just entertainment for the fans in attendance, and a chance for the competitors to cash-in with big earnings. Money earned at PRCA Xtreme Bulls Tour stops count toward the 2017 WEATHER GUARD® PRCA World Standings, which determine qualifiers to the Wrangler NFR.

Performances on Friday, Jan. 27, and Saturday, Jan. 28, begin at 7:30 p.m. (MT). Tickets for the Rapid City Xtreme Bulls event can be purchased by calling 1.800.GOT.MINE or by going online at www.gotmine.com. Ticket prices range from $13.50- $41. The Rushmore Plaza Civic Center is located at 444 Mt. Rushmore Road North in Rapid City.

The 2017 PRCA Xtreme Bulls Tour features 20 events across the U.S., and concludes with the Tour Finale in Ellensburg, Wash., over Labor Day weekend. In 2017, the combined PRCA Xtreme Bulls purse is estimated to approach $700,000.
